Why It Matters

Why Pool Safety Inspections Are Essential

Queensland has strict pool safety laws to prevent child drowning. Whether you're buying, selling, or leasing a property with a pool, compliance certificates are mandatory.

Legal Compliance

Meet Queensland's mandatory pool safety requirements. Avoid fines up to $4,000 and protect yourself from liability in case of an accident.

Child Safety

Pool drowning is a leading cause of death for children under 5. A compliant barrier significantly reduces the risk of unsupervised pool access.

Property Value

A current pool compliance certificate is essential for property sales and rentals. Buyers and tenants expect documented pool safety.

Fast Turnaround

Receive your inspection report and compliance certificate quickly — usually within 24-48 hours of the inspection.

When You Need a Pool Inspection

  • Selling your property — Required before settlement
  • Leasing your property — Mandatory for tenancy agreements
  • Buying a property — Verify compliance before purchase
  • Regular compliance — Certificate valid for 2 years
  • After pool modifications — Any barrier changes require re-certification

Got Questions?

Pool Safety Inspection FAQs

Common questions about pool safety inspections and compliance certificates on the Gold Coast.

Most pool safety inspections take 30-60 minutes depending on the size and complexity of your pool area and barrier. The inspector will thoroughly assess all components to ensure compliance with Queensland standards.
Pool compliance certificates are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. You'll need a new inspection and certificate before the expiry date, when selling/leasing the property, or after any modifications to the pool barrier.
If non-compliance issues are identified, you'll receive a detailed report outlining exactly what needs to be fixed. Once you've made the necessary corrections, we can re-inspect the pool. You only pay for the re-inspection, not the full inspection price again.
It's not mandatory, but we recommend being present so you can ask questions and understand any issues firsthand. If you can't attend, ensure the inspector has access to the pool area and we'll call you with the findings.
In Queensland, it's illegal to settle a property sale without a current pool safety certificate (if a pool exists). Failure to comply can result in fines up to $4,000 and delays in settlement. It's best to arrange your inspection early in the sales process.
No. Pool safety inspections must be conducted by a licensed pool safety inspector. DIY inspections are not legally valid and won't provide the required compliance certificate for sales or leasing.
We inspect the pool barrier (fence), all gates and latches, locking mechanisms, gaps and clearances, climbable objects within the non-climbable zone, windows and doors that provide pool access, CPR signage, and overall barrier condition and stability.
Pool safety inspection costs vary based on the pool type, barrier complexity, and property location. Contact us for a free quote tailored to your specific property. We provide transparent pricing with no hidden fees.
The non-climbable zone extends 900mm outside the pool barrier and 300mm inside. Within this zone, there must be no objects, furniture, trees, or features that a child could use to climb over the fence. This is a critical safety requirement.
Pools that can hold 300mm or more of water require compliant barriers and inspections, regardless of whether they're permanent, inflatable, or temporary. Even above-ground pools often need compliant fencing and safety measures.
